Zone 03 · North Island

Port Hardy is 400 km past Duke Point. We plan it that way.

Kattz Logistics coordinates commercial freight to Courtenay, Comox, Campbell River, Port McNeill and Port Hardy, from the Duke Point terminal up Highway 19.

Our North Island freight crosses to Duke Point and goes up Highway 19. Courtenay and Comox are about 120 and 130 km from the terminal, Campbell River about 170 km, Port McNeill and Port Hardy about 365 and 400 km. On runs that long, the sailing, the driver's day and the receiver's hours have to be planned as one move.

The request opens with the North Island as the destination.

The way in

How freight reaches the North Island

We bring it by commercial barge to Duke Point, then north on Highway 19: four-lane divided highway as far as Campbell River, built by the Vancouver Island Highway Project between 1992 and 2002, then a two-lane highway north of Campbell River toward Sayward. The highway carries on to Port McNeill and Port Hardy.

What is different about North Island deliveries

Distance is the plan

Port Hardy is about 400 km from Duke Point by road, 800 km there and back, and Campbell River to Port Hardy alone is about 235 km. That far north, which sailing the trailer catches decides when it reaches the receiver, so the crossing is booked from the delivery backward.

The highway changes at Campbell River

The Vancouver Island Highway Project of 1992 to 2002 built four-lane divided highway from Nanaimo to Campbell River. North of Campbell River, Highway 19 toward Sayward is two lanes; in 2019 the Province contracted a 900 m southbound passing lane about 25 km north of the city, due by spring 2020.

How we work, wherever the receiver is

  • Built around you.

We start with how the shipment needs to arrive.

  • Early is on time.

    Receiving appointments are not suggestions.

  • Find the practical way.

When freight gets complicated, experience takes over.

  • Watch the total cost.

We look for smarter ways to move freight, not another line item.
