Freight Consolidation & Transloading

Freight consolidation and transloading

Destuffing and transfer of freight from the container it arrived in to the equipment the receiver can actually take: flat deck, step deck, pup trailer or partner equipment.

If your freight cannot arrive in the equipment it came in, Kattz helps move it into the equipment the receiver can actually take: a flat deck, a step deck, a pup trailer, or the right partner equipment. Your shipment does not have to fit our system. We build the system around your shipment.

When you need this

When the container isn't how the receiver needs it.

  • 01The receiver cannot unload a sea container at their dock.
  • 02The load needs a flat deck, step deck or pup trailer to get down the receiver's road.
  • 03Several shipments should arrive together instead of separately.
  • 04Part of a container is going to one place and part to another.

How it works

From the first call to the last handoff

  1. Step 1

We ask how the receiver needs it

Dock, forklift, road, hours. The equipment is chosen from the answer.

  2. Step 2

    The container is destuffed

Kattz coordinates the destuff and, with long-standing partners, the facility and handling the freight needs.

  3. Step 3

Freight is reloaded onto the right equipment

Flat deck, step deck, pup, or consolidated with other freight headed the same way.

  4. Step 4

    Delivered on the receiver's terms

And the empty container returned in the same plan.

What you get

What changes for you

  • Freight that fits the receiver, instead of a receiver asked to fit the freight.
  • Equipment matched to the road, the dock and the forklift.
  • Consolidated deliveries when that saves money.
  • One plan from container to door.

FAQ

Questions about this service

What is transloading?

Transloading is moving freight from one piece of equipment to another, usually out of a sea container and onto a trailer, so it can be delivered where the original equipment cannot go. Consolidation is combining freight from more than one source into one delivery.

Do you have your own transload facility?

Kattz coordinates destuffing and transfer through long-standing partners on the Mainland and the Island and matches the equipment to the delivery. Tell us what is in the container and how the receiver takes freight, and we will tell you how it gets there.

Can one container be delivered to two places?

Yes. Freight can be split at the transload and delivered on separate equipment to separate receivers, or consolidated the other way round.

Is LCL delivery the same as transloading?

No. Transloading moves your freight from the equipment it arrived in to the equipment the receiver needs. Destuffing is unloading a container. LCL delivery is for a smaller shipment that shared a container with other people's freight: once it is released at the destuff facility, Kattz picks it up and delivers it, as its own service.
